On Saturday, 5 October, the Mauritius Olympic Committee (MOC) took a significant step towards advancing gender equality in sports leadership by hosting a Women Leadership Workshop for female administrators from various National Federations.
The event was spearheaded by the 4th Vice President of the MOC, Ms. Aarti Desscann, and featured Ms. Georgina Ragaven, Director of Star Conexxions, as the workshop’s facilitator. Both leaders brought their extensive experience and insight to the table, creating an enriching environment for participants.
Focus Areas
The workshop delved into three pivotal areas of leadership development:
- Building Self-Confidence: Encouraging women to believe in their abilities and embrace their roles as leaders in the sports sector.
- Finding Your Voice: Helping participants to communicate effectively and assertively in leadership positions.
- Mastering Effective Communication: Teaching the art of clear and impactful communication, a vital skill for any leader.
A Vision for Equality
This initiative is part of the MOC’s broader commitment to fostering an inclusive sports environment where women can thrive in leadership roles. By equipping female administrators with the necessary tools and knowledge, the MOC aims to empower them to take on greater responsibilities and contribute to shaping the future of Mauritian sports.
