It reflects a firm commitment to strengthening governance, optimising sporting performance, and uniting all stakeholders around a shared vision for the next four years.

The workshop brought together a broad and representative cross-section of the Mauritian sporting ecosystem, including MOC Board members, representatives of national federations, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as well as athletes, coaches, medical experts, media representatives and scholarship beneficiaries. Structured around thematic working groups, it encouraged the pooling of expertise and perspectives, resulting in the development of a coherent, inclusive and results-oriented strategic framework.

The discussions focused on key priority areas, including the promotion of Olympic values, athlete development and support, resource mobilisation, and the strengthening of organisational effectiveness. Particular emphasis was placed on high performance planning, coach development, governance and transparency, as well as the integration of digital tools and data in the management of high-level sport.

The initial outcomes of the workshop include the refinement of the MOC’s mission and vision, the identification of measurable strategic priorities, and the development of a roadmap for the 2026–2030 period. This roadmap includes key structural initiatives such as the establishment of youth academy networks and centralised training centres, supported by mid-term review and evaluation mechanisms to ensure the plan remains relevant and adaptable.

MOC President Richard Papie outlined the purpose of the initiative:

“The objective is to build solid foundations in terms of governance and administration. We wanted to open this exercise to all partners in order to share a broader vision of Mauritian sport. Today, we are committed to transparency, good governance and democratic functioning.”

“To mobilise funding, we must present credible projects underpinned by a clear vision. This is how we will turn our ambitions into reality and ensure the development of Mauritian sport.”

“All stakeholders — federations, the Ministry, partners and the Olympic Committee — must move in the same direction. This synergy is essential so that sport and athletes are the first to benefit from this approach.”

International sport management expert Robert Mutsauki also praised the process:

“This workshop has defined a clear and solid vision for the future of Mauritian Olympic sport. We identified the challenges, weaknesses and opportunities in order to build a strategic plan capable of consolidating existing achievements and anticipating future demands.”

“A high-performing organisation relies on a structured strategic framework. The ambition is to sustainably improve athlete performance and support a dynamic and competitive Team Mauritius.”

“It is essential that the Ministry and the Olympic Committee work closely together. The development of sport is built on a shared vision, founded on mutual respect for the roles and responsibilities of each institution.”

He also commended the commitment of participants and the quality of the workshop’s organisation.

This strategic plan is aligned with national sport and youth development policies, as well as international standards in quality, inclusion and sustainability. It aims to enhance the competitiveness of Mauritian athletes on the international stage while contributing to broader societal goals.

Following the workshop, the MOC, in collaboration with Robert Mutsauki, will finalise the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan by the end of April 2026. A detailed report including recommendations will be submitted by that deadline, incorporating the contributions of all stakeholders.

The Mauritius Olympic Committee (MOC) marked a significant milestone in the structuring and development of sport in Mauritius by hosting its strategic planning workshop for the […]

[23

post-2534","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-events-en
["GET
