{"id":2101,"date":"2026-02-20T11:06:20","date_gmt":"2026-02-20T07:06:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mauritiusolympic.org\/?p=2101"},"modified":"2026-02-20T11:06:21","modified_gmt":"2026-02-20T07:06:21","slug":"mauritian-delegation-for-the-4th-african-youth-games-luanda-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mauritiusolympic.org\/en\/mauritian-delegation-for-the-4th-african-youth-games-luanda-2025\/","title":{"rendered":"Mauritian Delegation for the 4th African Youth Games \u2013 Luanda 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Trianon, Thursday 4 December 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mauritius Olympic Committee (MOC) officially presented this Thursday the Mauritian delegation that will participate in the 4th African Youth Games, scheduled from 10 to 20 December 2025 in Angola.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The delegation will comprise 66 members, including 46 athletes, 15 coaches, and 5 officials (mission staff and medical team).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mauritius will be represented in 11 disciplines: athletics, badminton, beach volleyball, tennis, table tennis, boxing, cycling, fencing, judo, swimming, and weightlifting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This edition will take place in a special context, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Angola\u2019s independence. More than 54 African nations are expected to participate, bringing together the continent\u2019s top young athletes aged 14 to 16 across 33 disciplines, hosted in several cities including Luanda, Benguela, and Bengo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The African Youth Games aim to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Promote sport among youth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identify and prepare emerging talent across the continent<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Encourage cultural integration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Serve as a qualifying event for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Leadership and Logistics<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The delegation will be led by Mr. Neerunjun Sharma Nundah, Chef de Mission, assisted by Mr. Soureindra Seebaluck, Deputy Chef de Mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The medical team will include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dr. Youven Naiken Gopalla (Team Doctor)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mr. Abhishek Kaunhye (Physiotherapist)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Mauritian contingent will travel in two groups, with departures scheduled for 8 and 9 December 2025 to Luanda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Objective: To Excel and Dream Bigger<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For Mr. Richard Papie, President of the Mauritius Olympic Committee, these Games represent a key milestone in the development of young athletes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cThese Games represent a springboard for Mauritian youth. We have a talented and motivated generation ready to showcase its potential.
